Just a day after meeting the President of Ukraine at Sandringham, King Charles has met with the Canadian Prime Minister at the Monarch’s private Norfolk residence.
Justin Trudeau had been in London to take part in a European defence summit to discuss a plan for peace in Ukraine.

This meeting comes amid heightened discussions about national sovereignty, following recent remarks by US President Donald Trump suggesting that Canada should consider becoming the 51st state of the United States of America. Trudeau has firmly dismissed these suggestions, emphasising Canada’s commitment to its Sovereignty and independence.
Trudeau has previously highlighted that the protection of Canada’s sovereignty would be a primary focus in his discussions with King Charles, who is also King of Canada. He underscored the importance of defending his nation’s independence in light of external political pressures.

The meeting with King Charles also provided an opportunity for Trudeau to reinforce the strong ties between Canada and the UK, once again using soft diplomacy to highlight the support the UK – and Monarchy – is giving.
