Prince Philip is feeling ‘a lot better’ says Earl of Wessex – Palace confirms infection

The Earl of Wessex has confirmed his father, The Duke of Edinburgh, is ‘a lot better’ after being admitted to hospital last week. Prince Edward, who is Philip’s youngest son, spoke Sky News to discuss the Duke of Edinburgh Award and gave the update.

Buckingham Palace also gave a statement today, revealing that Prince Philip is being treated as an infection.

“As far as I’m aware, well I did speak to them the other day, so he’s a lot better thank you very much indeed,” The Earl of Wessex said, “and he’s looking forward to getting out, which is the most positive thing. So we keep our fingers crossed.”

When asked if The Duke Edinburgh was frustrated at being in hospital, Prince Edward laughed: “Just a bit!

“I think that gets to all of us, and then, you can only watch the clock so many times and the walls are only so interesting.”

The Earl also thanked people on behalf of his family and father for all the kind messages sent. “We’ve had some brilliant and lovely messages from all sorts of people and we really appreciate that and so does he, I’ve been passing them on. It’s fantastic, thank you,” he said.

Edward was speaking to Sky News about the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme, founded by his father over 60 years ago, and the positive impact it has had on young people during the pandemic.
