Beatrice Casiraghi and husband Pierre welcomed their first child on Tuesday, a baby boy for the couple; he has been named after Pierre’s late father, Stefano.
The couple’s firstborn arrived early on 28th February at Princess Grace Hospital in Monaco.
Instagram followers were alerted to the new arrival when Beatrice’s sister, Matilde Borromeo, posted a scenic photo of a marina – the view from the hospital – with the caption: ’28/2/2017 new date to add in the calendar for my family,’ followed by blue heart emojis.
It is thought the couple have named their son Stefano after Pierre’s father, with the full name of Stefano Ercole Carlo Casiraghi.
Rumours were sparked of a baby in August 2016, but confirmed when Beatrice, now 31, appeared to be sporting a bump as she attended the Copa del Rey Mapfre Sailing Cup awards ceremony with her husband.
The baby boy is the fourth grandchild for Princess Caroline, who is Prince Albert’s older sister. He is 7th in line to the Monegasque throne after his father.
Pierre Casiraghi married Beatrice Borromeo in July 2015, a civil ceremony in in Monaco, followed by a religious ceremony on the bride’s family-owned Borromean Islands, Italy. They met at university in Milan and have been together since 2008.
