The impromptu visit was made by the heir to the throne after a stolen beer truck was driven into high-end department store Ahlens in central Stockholm on Friday, killing four people – including a Briton – and injuring 15 more. It is now thought to be a terrorist attack; explosives were found inside the van.
Victoria came from the Royal Palace in Stockholm , where a solitary flag was at half mast, to show her support for the victims and her country. She laid red roses at the make-shift memorial sites, and was clearly moved by the event.
The Royal also lit candles at the site.
When asked by the press how Sweden can move on after the attack, the Crown Princess replied: ‘Together.’
“We must show great strength. We must fight against this. Swedish society is built on huge confidence, on a sense of community,” she also told reporters.
Monarchs and leaders from across Europe have sent their condolences to the Swedish King and Queen.
