Cambridge children and Wessexes ‘Clap for our Carers’ to thank frontline staff – see the videos

A nationwide campaign to show NHS staff and other frontline workers they are appreciated was tonight begun, with clapping and cheers across the UK. People were encouraged to open their windows, or stand in their gardens and driveways to make some noise for those protecting the country, and keeping it moving during the pandemic.

But not only were us Brits giving our thanks and support, the Royals were too! Videos were released by The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Earl and Countess of Wessex.

Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis stand in their garden clapping to the camera. The video was accompanied by the caption: “To all the doctors, nurses, carers, GPs, pharmacists, volunteers and other NHS staff working tirelessly to help those affected by #COVID19: thank you.”

Charlotte, nearly 5, Louis who turns 2 next month, and George, 6, stand near a flowerbed and wall, with the Princess giving a little giggle during the task. She wears a black and white stripey top, while the youngest Cambridge is in a blue jumper; the future King, however, wears navy.

It is understood that the Cambridges are at Anmer Hall, while Prince Charles – who has coronavirus – is at Birkhall.

Meanwhile, the Wessexes gathered outside, where Prince Edward gave ‘a huge thank you’ to those working to look after the sick, as well as keep the country going. Sophie joined her husband, as well as Lady Louise and James, Viscount Severn.

It’s wonderful to see the Royals also rallying their support at a time like this.

Update: staff at Windsor Castle also participated, accompanied by a bugler!

The Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall also showed their appreciation from Scotland; footage was shared to the Clarence House instagram story. As far as we know, this was filmed today, showing Prince Charles looking well, in spite of his diagnosis.
